Business Manager (Service Delivery)

The Business Manager (Service Delivery) will serve as the primary liaison between the Service Delivery Centre (SDC) and the parent company. This role is critical for orchestrating the end-to-end delivery of services, ensuring client satisfaction, and managing external partners/vendors who assist in service execution. The Manager will act as an internal account executive and a project oversight lead, focusing on commercial clarity, resource alignment, and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Intercompany Client & Demand Management
  • Strategic Liaison: Act as the primary business partner to BUs, regularly engaging with their leadership to understand their strategic needs and upcoming service requirements.
  • Service Intake & Scoping: Conduct detailed intake and discovery sessions for new service requests. Clearly define the Statement of Work (SOW), scope boundaries, deliverables, and success metrics.
  • Commercial Structuring: Negotiate and finalize the intercompany Service Level Agreement (SLA) and the chargeback/pricing model for each engagement in coordination with the Finance team.
  1. Service Brokerage & Assembly
  • Resource Alignment: Determine the optimal delivery model for each SOW. This involves deciding whether the work should be delivered:
    • Internally: By SDC internal teams.
    • Externally: By a specialized third-party Partner/Vendor.
    • Hybrid: A combination of both.
  • Handover to Execution: Seamlessly transition the approved SOW, resources, and established commercial terms to the assigned Project Manager (PM) for day-to-day execution and monitoring. The Manager will remain the commercial escalation point.
  1. Partner & Vendor Strategy
  • Partner Vetting & Selection: Proactively identify, evaluate, and qualify the best-fit external partners or vendors for specialized services to maintain a ready bench of suppliers.
  • Contract Management Support: Work with Business Operations to establish and maintain Master Services Agreements (MSAs) and ensure inpidual SOWs with external partners align with the intercompany agreements made with the BUs.
  • Performance Governance: Periodically review the overall performance of key external partners to ensure they consistently meet quality and delivery expectations for the SDC.
  1. Opportunity Identification & Business Growth
  • Opportunity Harvesting: Work closely with the PMs and delivery teams during project execution to identify new service opportunities and potential follow-on work. For example:
  • Service Expansion: Based on project outcomes, develop and propose new, value-add service offerings or expanded scopes to the BU leadership.
  • Growth Reporting: Maintain a pipeline of identified opportunities and track their conversion into formal projects, ensuring the SDC is viewed as a strategic growth engine, not just a service provider.

Experience

  • Minimum of 7-10 years in a professional services, account management, or business development role within a shared services or intercompany environment.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying, scoping, and closing follow-on business opportunities from existing client/project relationships.
  • Proven experience in managing and utilizing external vendors/partners to deliver services.
